Introduction to God's Grace

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,"

Titus 2:11 KJV

Definition of Grace

(most prevalent)

  • Strong's Hebrew 2580 - חֵן chên khane; from 2603; graciousness, i.e. subjective (kindness, favor) or objective (beauty)

  • Strong's Hebrew 2603 - חָנַן chânan; a primitive root (compare 2583); properly, to bend or stoop in kindness to an inferior; to favor, bestow; causatively to implore (i.e. move to favor by petition)

  • Strong's Greek 5485 - χάρις charis; from 5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual: especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude)

Exodus 33:16 KJV - "For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth."

1 Peter 1:10 KJV - "Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:"

Ephesians 4:7 KJV - "But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Though man was born with a sin nature and has sinned against God, God planned, promised, and prophesied to bestow kindness. Without any preceding effort or desire on mankind's part; and in the midst of mankind's lack of reverence, knowledge and understanding, God has shown everyone grace.
